USA Computer Buyback is operated by USA Computer Surplus (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use usacomputerbuyback.com, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The service is offered only in the United States.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to quote, ship, inspect, and pay for your laptop. We do not collect more.

You give us directly

• Your name, email address, and (optionally) phone number.
• Your shipping address, used to generate a prepaid shipping label and, if needed, to return your device.
• Your payout method (PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle) and the corresponding identifier (PayPal email, Venmo username, or Zelle-registered email or phone).
• The device you are selling: model, configuration, and your answers to our condition questions.

We generate during inspection

• Photos of the device taken by our inspection team for grading and dispute records.
• Inspection notes describing the device's condition on arrival.

We collect automatically

• Standard request information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and approximate location (city or region inferred from IP).
• Analytics events about which pages you viewed and how you moved through the quote flow. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may set first-party analytics cookies for this purpose.

We do not require a customer account to use the service. Order tracking is provided through a unique link emailed to you.

2. How we use your information

• To generate quotes, accept offers, and complete buyback transactions.
• To create shipping labels, communicate about order status, and confirm payment.
• To detect fraud, prevent abuse, and comply with our legal obligations (for example, screening for stolen devices).
• To improve the service, including diagnosing site errors and understanding how the quote flow performs.

We do not use your information to send marketing email. The only emails we send today are transactional — quote confirmation, label delivery, package received, inspection outcome, and payment confirmation.

3. Who we share your information with

We share information with service providers only as needed to run the buyback service. We describe the categories below rather than name individual vendors, which may change over time.

• Payment processors — to deliver your payout. We share the recipient identifier you supplied (PayPal email, Venmo username, or Zelle email/phone) and the amount to be paid.
• Shipping providers — to generate prepaid labels, provide tracking, and handle returns. We share your name, shipping address, and (if you provided one) phone number.
• Email delivery providers — to send transactional email about your order. We share your email address and the contents of the email.
• Cloud hosting and storage providers — to store database records and device photos. Data is held in U.S. regions.
• Analytics and infrastructure providers— to host the site and measure aggregated usage.
• Law enforcement and other authorities— when required by law, valid legal process, or to report suspected theft or fraud.
• A successor entity — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the same protections as this policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Data retention

We retain order records (including the device sold, the price paid, payout details, and inspection results) for at least three years to comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Some records may be kept longer if required by law or to defend against potential claims.

You may request deletion of non-transactional data — for example, marketing-related contact information or browser analytics tied to your account — by emailing us. We will not delete records we are required to keep, but we will tell you what we are unable to delete and why.

5. How we protect your information

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Our databases and storage buckets are hosted in the United States and access is restricted to authorized personnel. We do not store payment credentials (such as PayPal passwords or full card numbers). Internal access to customer data is logged. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it.
• Access a copy of that information.
• Correct information that is inaccurate.
• Delete information we are not required to retain.
• Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for advertising. We do not engage in either practice, so there is nothing to opt out of today.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Residents of other states with comparable laws have analogous rights. 7. Children's privacy

The service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, email us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be summarized at the top of the page for at least 30 days. Continued use of the service after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated policy.
